Brakkeduine 4x4

Brakkeduine is one of the best 4x4 trails within easy reach of PE. The name comes from the 2 abundant entities in the area, the Bracken Fern and lots of dunes! These are inland dunes and the owners have special permission to make use of the area as a 4x4 trail. It has few different sections. You start off with a small tight forest section, then a winding sand trail through the bush before you get onto the open dune section. In the open dune section you still have to stay on the prescribed track, but there is a lot of opportunities to test your skills to the limit. There are also some option dunes, namely Langbult and Roller Coaster which will give you and your vehicle a very good workout. After the dunes, you travel back to the camp site through another tight and winding forest section. It's an amazing driving experience to take on the sand dunes, and also one of a very few places in South Africa where you can still legally drive on sand.
The camp site is also one of the nicest we've visited. It's got beautiful green grass and sits on the edge of a large irrigation dam. The neat ablutions are built from wood and it has flushing toilets and hot showers.
