Information

This tour will take you through the 8 mountain passes that is part of the New England Wartrail and borders right against Lesotho. Our country holds very beautiful areas, but this is a tour that everyone has to experience at least once in their lifetime. We’re sure that you will fall in love with this place. Although we will be traveling a total of 1550kms, it’s not even going to feel that much. All accommodation (inside lodges or guesthouse with nice and soft beds), breakfast and dinners have been catered for. You will be responsible for your own cool drinks, alcohol and snacks during the day. We will be stopping along the routes each day so there will be ample time for taking photos, stretching legs and taking in the beautiful scenery this area has to offer. During the day’s we will also indicate where the petrol/diesel stops will be, and it is recommended to fill up during these times.

Day 1 - 10 April 2009 - Travel 378km from Port Elizabeth and sleep over at Ferndale 4×4 River Cottage. On the menu for the evening will the lamb chops, boere wors, bread rolls and some salads.

Day 2 - 11 April 2009 - After eating breakfast at Ferndale, which will be cereals, eggs and toast, we will be heading towards Elliot. We will drive through 3 passes during this section and end up at Rhodes Hotel. We are booked the house that they have available across the street from the Hotel. We will travel 404km this day. On the menu for this evening is freshly baked bread for starters and then steak with a mixed salad with pap, sauce and potatoes.

Day 3 - 12 April 2009 - We’ll have breakfast again in the morning, which will be bacon, eggs and toast before heading off to tackle 4 passes before reaching our guest house for the evening. We would have traveled 237km and will be treated to a 2 course set dinner.

Day 4 - 13 April 2009 - The next morning we’ll be treated to a full breakfast before heading back to Port Elizabeth. On the way back we’re cross another 2 passes. It is 515km back to Port Elizabeth!

PLEASE NOTE. This is the recce trip and therefore we have discounted the price per person. One or two things in the itenary may change, but most of it will stay as is above.
